June 2nd at 8 pm EST- Behavior Management to Motivation and Change: Keeping Your Child's Relationship with Jeffrey S. Katz, Ph.D. Clinical Psychologist

This presentation will first review different strategies that parents' can use for behavior management. It will cover what each is effective for, and what it is not so useful for. Then, Collaborative Problem Solving will be discussed in more detail. This model is one of the most helpful and effective for parents, removing the stress that so often occurs in the families of neurodivergent children and adolescents.

Dr. Jeffrey Katz earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology in 1986. After post doctorate training in Lafayette, Indiana, he returned to his hometown of Norfolk, Virginia in 1988 and has a private practice in nearby Virginia Beach.

Dr. Katz’s practice includes the evaluation and treatment of children, adolescents and adults and their families with an emphasis on Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder as well as other behavioral and learning issues. In addition to his expertise in AD/HD and learning disabilities, Dr. Katz is also an expert in Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support. Parents frequently ask Dr. Katz to be an advocate for their child in regard to issues related to special education and accommodations under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and Section 504.

Dr. Katz is highly involved in the AD/HD community. Dr. Katz is an immediate past member of the Board of Directors of CHADD (Children and Adults with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), he is a co-chair of the Advocacy and Public Policy Committee, he serves on the Professional Advisory Board and is a member of the CHADD national spokesperson team. Dr. Katz is also the 2024 inductee to the CHADD Hall of Fame. CHADD is the largest international advocacy organization dedicated to AD/HD.

Dr. Katz is also a member of APSARD, the American Professional Society for Attention and Related Disorders.

Continuing his interest in AD/HD, Dr. Katz serves on the editorial advisory board of the Journal of Attention Disorders, a professional journal that disseminates scientific information about ADHD. In that capacity he reviews research that has been submitted for publication. Dr. Katz was also asked to author the Journal’s first article in their column concerning state-of-the-art treatment by nationally recognized experts.
